Once I call His name there's a flow within;
It turns me from my day, makes Him Lord again.
As my spirit burns, Satan cannot win.
Calling, "Oh Lord Jesus, " keeps the flow within.

Spring up, O well, within my spirit!
Rise up and tell, so all can hear it!
Spring up, O well, so I experience
That life abundantly.

Tune

September 10, 2011

Fresh as the dew of the morning,
Bringing a sweet rest unheard,
Christ, in the gentle anointing,
Whispers His comforting word:
Stand till the trial is over,
Stand till the tempest is gone,
Stand for the glory of Jesus,
Stand till the kingdom is won.

Lord of all hope, O how
Sweet is Thy voice,
Making my heart in Thy
Presence rejoice.

Hymn 708

"But unto you who fear My name will the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in His wings, and you will go forth and leap about like well-fed calves."

Malachi 4:2

"And he will be like a tree transplanted beside water,
Which sends out it roots by a stream,
And will not be afraid when heat comes;
For its leaves remain flourishing,
And it will not be anxious in the year of drought
And will not cease to bear fruit."

According to God's economy, the one who trusts in God is like a tree planted by water, signifying God as the fountain of living waters.  A tree grows beside a river by absorbing all the riches of the water.  This is a picture of God's economy, which is carried out by His dispensing.  In order to receive the divine dispensing, we as the trees must absorb God as the water.  The riches of the supplying God dispensed into us as the trees constitute us with  God's divinity and cause us to grow into God's measure.  In this way we and God become one, having the same element, essence, constitution, and appearance.

"The woman became a debtor because of the poverty of her husband. But she had a pot of oil. This pot of oil was the basic ingredient. It was this pot of oil that allowed her to pay her debt and that supplied her daily needs. She needed empty vessels. Elisha ordered her to prepare empty vessels, and not a few. Through Adam we have become poor. But praise the Lord, we have the Holy Spirit. What is lacking are empty spots for the Spirit to fill. The fact is not that we cannot be filled, but that we do not have the empty spots for the Holy Spirit to work into. The Holy Spirit will only fill the empty spots. For spiritual progress we must be continually empty to be continually filled. It is not to be emptied once and then remain full forever. Time after time we need further emptying and further filling...If there is unlimited emptiness, there will be unlimited filling. We should continually empty ourselves, instead of emptying ourselves just once. We should continually empty ourselves so that we can be continually filled. We are responsible for the emptying, and the Holy Spirit is responsible for the filling."

"Now a certain woman from among the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared Jehovah.  And the creditor has come to take my two children to himself as servants.

And Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you?  Tell me, what do you have in your house?  And she said, Your servant has nothing at all in the house, except a jar of oil.

And he said, Go and borrow vessels outside, from all your neighbors, empty vessels, and not just a few.

Then go in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour out into all those vessels; and each one you fill set aside.

So she went away from him and shut the door behind herself and her sons; and they brought the vessels to her, and she poured out into them.

And when she had filled the vessels, she said to her son, Bring me another vessel.  But he said to her, There is no other vessel.  And the oil stopped."

"Nor height nor depth nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

"The love of God is the source of His eternal salvation.  The love is in Christ and has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit.  Nothing can separate us from this love of God.  In God's salvation this love to us has become the love of Christ, which does many marvelous things for us through the grace of Christ until God's complete salvation is accomplished in us.  These marvelous things provoke God's enemy to attack us with all kinds of sufferings and calamities.  However, because of our response to the love of God in Christ, these attacks have become benefits to us.  Hence, we more than conquer in all our afflictions and calamities."

"But when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, Why this waste?"

"The disciples considered Mary's love offering to the Lord a waste.  Through the past twenty centuries thousands of precious lives, heart treasures, high positions, and golden futures have been 'wasted' upon the Lord Jesus.  To those who love Him in such a way He is altogether lovely and worthy of their offerings.  What they have poured upon Him is not a waste but a fragrant testimony of His sweetness."

"Give yourself to love the Lord. No other way is so prevailing, and no other way is so safe, so rich, and so full of enjoyment. Just love Him. Do not care for anything else. Teachings, doctrines, gifts, and power do not mean much. We must continually tell the Lord, “Lord, keep me in Your love! Attract me with Yourself! Keep me all the time in Your loving presence!” If we will pray in this way, we will see what love we will have toward the Lord and what kind of life we will live. We will simply live by the Lord Himself. As long as we love Him from the deepest part of our being, everything will be all right. If we need wisdom, He will be the wisdom to us. If we need power, He will be the power. If we need the proper and adequate knowledge, He will even be that to us. Whatever we need, He is. Do not try to get anything else; just look to Him that He would reveal His love to you."

"If the journey which many Christians take is not contrary to the wind, I doubt whether such a journey is ordained by the Lord.  We should take the journey that the Lord has ordained.  The Lord pays attention to every step we take.  He knows how great out temptations are and how difficult our circumstances are.  He will not let us endure beyond the fourth watch.  When the night is far advanced, He comes to us.  As soon as the Lord comes, everything is fine.  Thank and praise the Lord, the wind may be contrary, but it will not remain contrary forever.  Though rowing is a toil, we will not need to row forever."

Hymn 452
"Don't look for greater things.  Don't look for things other than they are.  Don't set your expectation on some great vision or on some great experience.  And don't expect anything outward, for the God who hides Himself is at work within your life, and He is working mightily.  Your responsibility is to cooperate with Him by responding to His voice within - that 'still small voice,' that voice that seems so much a part of your own feelings that you scarcely recognize it as a voice at all.  To that voice, registered in the deepest depths of your being, you must say, 'Amen,' for there, secretly and ceaselessly, the God who hides Himself is working."

"Sometimes when you are out on the street or in your room, thoughts such as these come to you - 'What is the purpose of my life?  What is the Lord getting out of it?' - and it does not dawn upon you that that is the Lord at work within you.  Let me tell you: Those faint registrations in the depths of your being, those slight suggestions you thought were wholly your own because they were so natural - those were the Lord's doing.  The God who hides Himself is at work within your life, but He has hidden Himself so effectively that you have been quite unconscious of His activity.  And He is working outwardly as well as inwardly - in your home, in your business, in all your circumstances.  He is creating many situations and is active in many directions, though He lets you sense nothing of it, until you imagine these things have been just come about naturally; but both the inner and outer conditions of your life are under His control."

"The Canaanite woman did not come to the Lord because she was hungry; she came because her daughter was sick.  But the Lord turned the situation to the matter of eating...Although the woman's request had nothing to do with eating, the Lord purposely related her case to the matter of eating to show us that what we need is not outward washing, but eating for the inward nourishing.  In his doctrinal arrangement Matthew put these matters together that we might understand that for the kingdom of the heavens we do not need outward cleansing, but what we need is for Christ to get into us...The Lord seemed to be saying to the Canaanite woman, 'You don't need healing.  You need Me!  And you do not need me outwardly; you need Me inwardly.  You need to eat Me.  I came as bread for people to eat, to digest, and to assimilate.  I would like to get into your being, into your system, vessels, and fibers.  I would like to get into your very constituent and become you.  Thus, you need to eat Me.  Don't deal with things in an outward way.  Rather, deal with everything in an inward way by taking Me into you.  As long as I can get into you to nourish you, every problem will be solved.'"

"God is faithful in whatever He says. This is the rainbow. Whenever a cloud comes, you must call God's faithfulness to come. That means that you call out the rainbow. There is a verse for every circumstance that you face. If you hold on to God's covenant...regardless of what happens to you, there is a verse as a living promise for you to rely upon and live by. We should not be threatened or frightened by the clouds of our convictions, feelings, and environments. We are under God's covenant, fully under His blessing."

Life-Study of Genesis, Chapter 32
"According to the entire revelation in the Holy Bible, God's words are good for us to eat, and we need to eat them (Psa. 119:103; Matt. 4:4; Heb. 5:12-14; 1 Pet. 2:2-3). God's word is the divine supply as food to nourish us. Through the word as our food, God dispenses His riches into our inner being to nourish us that we may be constituted with His element. This is a crucial aspect of God's economy. When we eat God's words, His word becomes our heart's gladness and joy."
